A new article from Concordia University revisits a study of six charities consistently ranked among the world's most cost-effective by GiveWell, highlighting what sets them apart operationally.
Deworm the World, now a program of Evidence Action, was featured for its rigorous approach to ensuring donor dollars translate into real impact — assessing each country's infrastructure, legal environment, and disease burden before deciding how or whether to proceed, and declining to operate where conditions don't support success.
The study also recognized these organizations for building the capacity of local governments to run programs independently — turning short-term investment into lasting, locally-owned systems.
