When the Government of Kenya closed schools and implemented social distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, one of our flagship programs - the Deworm the World Initiative - had to rapidly adapt to the new conditions on the ground.
Scale is all about execution. This means constantly evaluating and improving our programs. We collect data on our key performance indicators, in order to make data-driven and evidence-based decisions on what works and on what we need to change. We collect data in a variety of ways but have been pushing hard to increase real-time, tech-enabled monitoring of our performance, and quick, streamlined, and action-oriented analysis. Here is what we are doing, with a frank assessment on how it’s going.
We use data every day. It’s critically important to our work. As an evidence-based organization, we rely on high-quality, timely and systematic measurement of inputs, outputs, and outcomes to make decisions about our work, and evaluate our progress. We measure to make decisions; we choose our methods depending on the question we want to answer.
