Dispensers for Safe Water: A Day in the Life

Dispensers for safe water post

Worldwide, lack of access to safe water is a problem that disproportionately affects the very poor. Dispensers for Safe Water takes a targeted, evidence-based approach to increasing access to safe water for the rural poor — a group for whom conventional approaches to safe water delivery simply are not arriving fast enough.

Dispensers for Safe Water is different. Dispensers deliver free chlorine at existing water points, make drinking water safe for families in the community.

A rigorous evidence base and our own monitoring show that Dispensers for Safe Water creates behavior change in the community. Dispensers do not sit idle, but are used by more than 50% of households (competing products see usually less than 10% take-up).

There’s nothing very fancy about Dispensers for Safe  — it is relatively simple technology.  But thanks to rigorous testing, a highly fine-tuned consistent supply chain, and careful monitoring we are able to provide sustained and extremely cost-effective access to safe water to millions.

Check out the new video and see what a “day in the life” is like for a Dispenser. From manufacture, to installation, to regular maintenance, and ultimately community use, see how Dispensers for Safe Water deliver for 4.5 million people in Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi.
